FROM DISCIPLE TO DISCIPLERIn 2001, almost immediately after completing my own discipleship training, the Lord placed two lives under my care to be discipled. Andrew Brown from my hometown of Auckland, New Zealand and Carlene Yenne from Sydney, Australia.
They lived with my family and we spent every day together for a year, as I discipled them, using the example of discipleship that Larry had shown me. It felt natural for me to add the element of physical training to what we were doing on a daily basis, especially as Andrew was also a former rugby league player and Carlene was a fitness instructor. Jeff Markland, a former NFL player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, was also one of my first disciples. Jeff went on to work with Sports World Ministry, and is currently involved in ministry in Tucson, AZ. This combination of spiritual and physical training became the model for my own personal style of discipleship training with Fit4theking. Andrew returned to New Zealand in 2003, and birthed the Dream Centre, Auckland in 2006. His ministry is flourishing as he and his wife Moira continue to know Him and make Him known. Carlene married an American, has twin girls, and still attends Phoenix First Assembly, where she is an active member of the congregation. |
CHURCH ON THE STREET
Over the past ten years, three days a week at 5:30am, I have put hundreds of Church on the Street disciples through a combination of weight, cardio and circuit training at the Phoenix First Assembly gymnasium. The physical workouts provide a perfect compliment to the program the disciples are going through with Church on the Street, giving them a well rounded physical and spiritual foundation. For many of these men and women, this is the first time they have encountered any form of physical training in their lives.
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NIV) "Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own, you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."
Each workout is followed by a 30 minute bible teaching affirming God's word in the disciples physical lives.
Two days a week, I provide advanced spiritual training for a select group of disciples desiring to reach a higher level with God through an open forum format.

LIFE AFTER CHURCH ON THE STREET

It's always humbling, and exciting, to hear the testimonies of what the Lord is continuing to do in the lives of people who have gone through both the COTS discipleship & FIT4THEKING training programs! Here are three short videos of three very different guys, all of whom are living victorious lives for the Lord, and being the church where God's placed them. |

BOUNDARY BREAKERS
Jeff Markland, Andrew Brown, Mickey Rhodes
I am involved with Boundary Breakers in an ongoing capacity assisting John Williams, one of my mentors, by preaching in church services and Christian outreaches for those in juvenile corrections facilities in Arizona.
Boundary Breakers was founded by Pastor Mickey Rhodes, who both preached and lived the idea that "the only limitations we have are the ones we put on ourselves." Born with severe physical handicaps and confined to a wheelchair, God used Mickey as His personal wrecking ball, to tear down the boundaries that the world placed in front of him. An inspiration to many, Mickey accepted his challenges head-on and attributed all his successes to God.
On October 21, 2007, Mickey was called home to be with the Lord. John Williams vowed to continue the work & vision that Mickey had begun with Boundary Breakers in 2002.

1999 Just two weeks after arriving in the USA, I was given the opportunity to travel with the AIM team to Uganda, Africa. Using the platform of sports, the athletes ministered to over 18,000 kids in the local schools of the Mbale region , in 1 week.
